Clothing Crisis

Ok, crisis is a bit of an exaggeration but I can't decide what to wear to my Staffordshire uni interview tomorrow (if the interviewer is reading this then I'm a good student, promise). On the letter the dress code says smart and smart is something that I'm not very good at. I've  struggled to put an interview look together and I'm still uncertain so any feedback would be useful! Would you about able to comment outfit 1 or 2 to help me decide? If not tweet me a number at @evehewitt. Obviously I wouldn't wear the starry leggings (which are great) to the interview, I'm just lazy. Please note the props in outfit two.

Keep Calm and Drink Tea

Yes, I did see the title of this blog post printed on a mug and I did steal it. I've been rather busy this week and I have an interview on Friday (wish me luck!) so I'm going to keep this short and sweet so I can return to my student finances. It's one of those times when you're all stressed out and you want a relaxing bath but it will take up too much time so you have to have a quick shower and return to your books which isn't satisfactory at all. I apologize if I am not making any sense. This is how I have been trying to stay sane over the past few days:
Drinking gallons of tea - I usually have around 4 mugs a day but during times of stress or when I have days at home this tends to excel to around 8 cups of tea per 24 hours. Milk and 1 sugar every time.
My best friend - what a beautiful face! We see each other almost everyday and are often found drinking milkshake, watching Family Guy or eating. Jasmine has to endure all my complaints and stress and I would be useless without her.
My mantra - before my English exam my teacher said I should have a mantra to keep me calm in important situations, this was his suggestion and I have found it rather useful recently.
How do you keep calm?

Glitter at Your Fingertips

This week is going to be very busy for me so I may get a little behind on blogging which makes me sad! I thought I'd do a quick post about my current nail varnish, it's Nails Inc. shade Sloane Gardens which sounds a lot fancier than blue and glittery. In the bottle it looks great but I was slightly disappointed when I tried it on, plus it peels off very easily. This is unusual for a Nails Inc. as they're usually really good. On the plus side, it dries ultra quick so I can touch it up before college and the sparkles look fab in certain lights. What do you think?

Sunday Nights are for Looking at Pretty Pictures

Monday morning is only a couple of hours away so the last hours of your weekend should be spent wisely, there's no use moping around and scrolling through Facebook, you may as well give your eyes a treat. I found Lukas Wierzbowski on Dazed Digital and I love his work, he uses everyday settings and beautiful models to create fun and gorgeous photographs. His blog is worth checking out, it's a charming collection of interesting sights he has seen, take a look here.

Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

Saturday night is for painting the town red, Sunday morning is for wallpapering over the town with pain killers and untagging the pictures on Facebook that you don't remembering being taken. Sunday morning hangovers can be killer but a I'm here to provide you with a little remedy to soften the blow, I present to you: the ultimate breakfast toastie. Of course each toastie can be tailored to the hungover zombie's personal preference, but this is what I like to have in mine:
  • seeded brown bread
  • Flora (margerine)
  • Marmite
  • cheddar cheese
  • Quorn bacon
  • beans
You can either grill your hangover toastie in the oven or use a toastie machine/one of the best inventions of all time.
So, enjoy your Saturday night, knowing that you're able to defeat that pesky hangover in the morning with this simple and delicious recipe. Wrap up warm and stay safe!

Another Day, Another Jumper

Hey guys, happy Friday! Unfortunately I've not got any celebratory plans for the end of this hectic week so I'm having a nerdy Friday night in, blogging and drinking glasses of water (party animal, I know...).
I've began to love taking photos of my jumper collection, so I thought I'd share my 'jumper of the day' or JOTD for short. This beauty was given to me by a friend of mine who got it online from a Japanese company on eBay. Sometimes I despise internet shopping but I find buying things from other countries by the click of a button great! The orange animal print is fun and kooky, I don't think you'll find anything similar on the British highstreet. I try to use plain backgrounds for photographs but I think my chaotic bedroom suits the playful print of the jumper, what do you think

I've had Django Django on repeat all week, I'm a sucker for indie music and this band have that delicious indie funk in every track. Have a listen to Default, it's full of unusual sounds and the video is just as creative as the song.
I'm always looking for new music, have you got any recommendations?

For the Love of Alpacas

The Company Magazine blogger issue certainly gave me some tips and ideas for improving my blog, the main message of the article was to be passionate about what you're writing and think of some original ideas. I think this post hits the nail of the head; I'm passionate about alpacas and I haven't seen another alpaca dedicated blog yet.
I live in a rural village which is home to an alpaca farm and last summer they had an open day which it advertised itself as free fun for all ages; it did not disappoint. Jasmine and I spent an afternoon in awe of one of the greatest animals on earth: the alpaca.
Dapper chaps
I love their hair
They had mini goats too!

Explore My Bag

I've seen a couple of these 'what's in my bag' posts and I find them rather intriguing so I thought I'd let you take a peek inside my Accessorize bag.
Bag - this was a Christmas present a few years ago and I really ought to use it more, I love the details imprinted on the bag and the charm at the side.
Chewing gum - this particular pack has come all the way from Estonia as a gift from my half Russian friend.
Sunglasses - I like to have a pair of sunglasses with me at all times, even winter. If you would like to see my sunglasses collection then click here
Purse - how cute is this bear?! It was a Christmas present from my friend Zara, she knows I love fluffy things and bears.
iPod Classic - an absolute essential. At the moment it's been playing a lot of Django Django and Peace.
Hand Cream - I always seem to have dry hands, especially in this cold weather. This is vanilla scented from Boots.
Phone - my HTC Wildfire S is small like me and I named it Sirius Black.
Pen - I find having a pen with me usually comes in handy, I want to become a journalist and they should always be prepared.
Lip balm - I have at least 4 pots of lip balm on the go, my favourite being passionfruit flavour from the Body Shop.
What's in your bag?

Exam Free!

Ahhh. That was me breathing a sigh of relief because my exams are over and I can take down my revision posters and hide my books away and hopefully never have to look at them again.
Now I have a bit more time on my hands, I did some experimenting with self timer in the garden, I propped my sister's camera up against a bowl and ran around the garden trying not to slip on the ice with moderate success...

I'm not going to lie, I slipped over.
These cute mugs were £2 each from Cancer Research

Hat - River Island £19.99
Shirt - H+M ex-boyfriend's
Jumper - Zara £9.99
Leggings - Next £7
Parka - Tk Maxx £29.99
Boots - Dr. Martens £20.12

In the Summertime...

With all this snow and revision, I was beginning to feel a little blue. That was until my best friend booked us tickets to go to Spain for a week in June, it feels like there's a light (and some sun) at the end of the tunnel! So in preparation for my summer holidays I decided to dust off the old sunglasses collection and show you just how awesome it is.

These were a Christmas present from Jasmine, their correct name is Sunstaches and they are from Urban Outfitters. I think they're the ultimate novelty sunshade.
Now this pair were found in my Spanish house (I lived there for a while when I was 7) and they had to be bought over to England by special request. They definitely were worth the journey, I mean, they're tomato sunglasses...
It will be a sad day when these bad boys brake or get lost, they have been my trusty number 1 pair for 4 years now. I found them at a supermarket in Germany and they are my absolute favourite.
Whilst cruising down Camden, I found I was squinting because of the sun. A quick trial and a fiver later, I was acquainted with this pair of floral sunglasses. They're great for festivals and holidays.

I know it is early to be preparing my choice of sunglasses but it brings a little summer spirit into this wintery cold. I hope you're wrapping up and thinking warm thoughts!

Come As You Are

I decided that tie dye jeans were a good idea not so long ago and now I like to wear them as often as possible. This pair were around £20 from the Topshop sale; unfortunately they fade very quickly so I try not to spill anything on them to avoid washing the colour out of them. I'm yet to spot somebody else wearing tie dye jeans so if any of you have a pair, take some pictures and let me know!
This Nirvana jumper combines a few of my favourite things; bright colours, Kurt Cobain and comfort. It was £20 from H+M Divided, I like it because it's quirky and shows my love for Nirvana.

My attempt at a jumping shot

My favourite Nirvana song is Lithium, what's yours?
